Ashland Art: An Ode to Mt. Shasta
Two Poems Inspired by the Majesty of Mt. Shasta
By Chris Robideaux
In Sisson Meadow
They shield us from the freeze, these low-hanging
Clouds like cottony spiders dreaming their webs,
As I, on outing through the town walk the clear,
Cool air, taking note of every color bare and seeming
To entrance and revel in its hue silent-gleaming.
Cars roll by slow and shops quiet and low
Yield what they yield to the shy, busy bees
As I push on to the aloof and feathered fields.
Boon of these free paths, such fringes glorify the vale
With ponds that flap and wings that wail;
Where celebrated heights obscured by winter fog
