Lake of the Woods Sailing

Just an hour for Ashland, Lake of the Woods is a beautiful, natural lake in the Cascade Mountains west of Ashland and located within the Fremont-Winema National Forest. It is surrounded by sloping mountains in all directions, with Mt. McLoughlin distinctly and sharply rising to north. The lake covers about 1150 acres, has a circumference of about 7.5 miles, is just under 3 miles long and about .75 miles wide.

Lake of the Woods Resort has a marina for a variety of boat rentals (no sail boats) and a boat launch as well. The resort also has cabin rentals, a restaurant, general store and campgrounds.

Directions: Head out of town from the center of Ashland down Siskiyou Blvd to Ashland St, where you will take a left. Follow Ashland St. over I-5, and just after half a mile take a left on Dead Indian Memorial Highway. Follow this road until just before it dead-ends, and you will see signs for Lake of the Woods Resort. You will take a left to enter the resort.

Additional Information: The day use fee at Lake of the Woods is $5.00. Bring your fishing pole if you like to fish for bass, catfish, salmon, and trout.
